Magnificent Views Aboard Viking Skaga River Cruise!
Viking Skaga is one of four brand-new ships, designed to navigate the Seine and dock directly in the heart of Paris, just a 10-minute jaunt from the Eiffel Tower. This modified version of Viking's award-winning Viking Longships carries 168 passengers instead of the usual 190 found on the larger Longships. Passengers will find plenty of Scandinavian design elements, such as the indoor-outdoor Aquavit Terrace for outdoor dining, and true suites with separate living and sleeping areas. There is no onboard spa, salon, fitness center or bicycle rentals, allowing Viking to offer more cabin categories, from economical river-view staterooms to full-blown suites. Onboard, two main dining venues offer European and North American specialties, plus a few Scandinavian dishes. Viking encourages passengers to mingle and complimentary Champagne or mimosas, beer, free-flowing wine and soft drinks are provided with lunch and dinner. An add-on package -- the Silver Spirits -- is available, or passengers can bring their own wine, corkage-free. Cabins are a strong point aboard Viking Skaga, with river-view cabins, French and step-out balconies, and true suites. Amenities include flat-panel interactive televisions, heated floors, anti-fog mirrors, and complimentary carafes of water replenished daily. Top-deck attractions include seating options and a wraparound jogging track, as well as an onboard herb garden and solar panels that help to power the ship. Entertainment onboard is limited to informative lectures, talks and a nightly piano player. Viking Skaga will operate 8-day "Paris & The Heart of Normandy" voyages.
