Viking Polaris, the second expedition ship from Viking Cruises, is almost perfect. The ship has all the programming, scientific equipment and expedition staff needed to bring wild places to life. Viking Polaris also boasts the luxurious comforts for which Viking is known. Multiple restaurants serve delicious offerings, and the thermal spa has been reimagined with an open-air hot tub. The expedition team of leaders and scientists work hard to bring research to life. Lectures are accessible and fun, and the Aula theater is a grand environment for such a small ship. However, the larger than usual ship size can mean less time spent outside at landing points. Viking Polaris cabins are luxurious and spacious. They feature king-sized beds and Nordic balconies, as well as heated bathroom floors and full-length drying closets. Food choices on the ship are plentiful, with three meals available in the World Café buffet, sit-down dinners and snacks in Mamsen's Norwegian Café. Room service is included in your fare and the Living Room hands out daily treats. A reservation system for the restaurants is the only downside. Viking Polaris is the perfect choice for those who want a lot of creature comforts in a first-class expedition environment.

Feel free to browse and borrow any of the selections, and return them at the end of your cruise.

Landing craft will be easily accessible for the guests. Embarkation onto the expedition ships will take place either from this midship area and/or The Hangar depending on the type of craft and weather conditions.

Expedition Central is a key onboard area for guests at which they can plan and book their excursions, verify landing and “go to gate” times or get answers to questions about upcoming excursions and landings.

The Hangar
Guests can embark on RIBs shielded from wind and waves from a flat, stable surface inside the ship and glide into the water to depart on their excursion. They re-enter The Hangar after excursions via the slipway to the protected marina before disembarking their RIBs.
The Science Lab
The 380-square-foot wet and dry lab, developed in partnership with the University of Cambridge and Akvaplan-Niva, allows scientists to conduct meaningful research and encourages guest interaction.

The Aula is a stunning panoramic auditorium inspired by the University of Oslo’s famed ceremonial hall, the former venue for the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. Used for lectures, daily briefings, and films, this unique space features a 4K laser-projected panoramic screen that can retract to expose floor-to-ceiling windows and 270° views.
