Viking's newest ship, Tir, is named for the Norse god of heroic glory and will join the fleet in 2019. The four-deck vessel features eco-conscious elements like hybrid diesel-electric engines and solar panels on the sun deck. Passengers will appreciate the ship's minimalist-modern design and ample natural light, plus the roomy suites comprised of two full-sized rooms. Viking Tir will sail two itineraries, the 14-night "Grand European Tour" from Amsterdam to Budapest, and the nine-night "Holland & Belgium in Bloom" from Amsterdam to Antwerp. Both cruises feature excursions in every port as well as enrichment activities highlighting local culture. Meals include a variety of local cuisine, open seating in the main restaurant, and a buffet-style lunch in the Aquavit Terrace. Water, tea, coffee, soft drinks, house wines, and beers are included with onboard lunches and dinners. Accommodations include 95 cabins on three of the ship's four decks. All cabins have exterior views and offer amenities like USB ports, Wi-Fi, and a flat panel TV. For a heartier breakfast, passengers can find cooked-to-order omelets, eggs Benedict, and French toast in The Restaurant, plus complimentary mimosas. The Aquavit Terrace offers a lighter, buffet-style lunch and then the one-seating, three-course dinner in The Restaurant. Viking's Culture Curriculum includes lectures on art, history, wine, and food, plus local entertainers. Passengers can enjoy the sun deck (with lounge chairs, solar panels, and a putting green), the Aquavit Terrace, and the Viking Lounge and Bar. Gratuities are paid at the end of the voyage, divided among the ship's staff. The cruise line is focused on travelers ages 55 and up with an interest in art, history, culture, and exploration.
