Step onboard Viking Idi, one of Viking's Longship-class vessels, and be immediately struck by the sunlight streaming in through the glass-enclosed, two-story atrium. This allows real flowers to grow and creates an airy, natural ambience. The vessel was designed by Norwegian firm Yran & Storbraaten, the same lead designer of Seabourn's Odyssey class. Viking Idi offers a range of innovative features, such as the Aquavit Terrace, two of the largest true suites in Europe, seven slightly smaller true suites, and an increased number of cabins with full and French balconies. To fit under bridges and through locks, the vessel's bow was blunted to create more space. The ship also features 'green' advances, like a hybrid diesel-electric engine which burns less fuel and produces 20 percent fewer emissions, plus solar panels on the sun deck to fuel the engines. There's even a chef-maintained organic garden on the upper deck! Viking Idi and its Longship-class sisters are the perfect combination of cutting-edge design, efficiency, and sustainability.
