Silversea's first ship, Silver Cloud, was given a makeover in 2017, transforming it into their most alluring vessel to date, Silver Cloud Expedition. This luxurious yacht is the perfect combination of an adventure cruise and the amenities of a luxury cruise. The Silver Cloud Expedition can accommodate 254 passengers, with 223 crew members. It offers shore excursions in the Arctic, Africa, Antarctica, Baltic Sea, Islay, Piraeus, Laviron, Reykjavik, Callao, Lima, Fort Lauderdale, Port Everglades, Cape Town, Muscat, Maldives, Darwin, Broome, Santiago (Valparaiso), Valparaiso, Singapore, Tahiti, Lisbon, Fremantle, and Dublin. During the makeover, Silversea spent more than $40 million to make the vessel ice class-rated and equipped to sail Polar Regions. All the suites (except bathrooms) and public spaces were remodeled into the modern Italian Silversea flagship design. There are now 12 Silver Suites, as well as a heated pool, large gym and spa, and many bars and restaurants. Onboard there are 22 expedition experts, 16 Zodiacs, 10 kayaks, and a photography studio for classes and picture-printing. Passengers can expect white-gloved butlers and sumptuous meals in their all-suite accommodations, which include verandas in 80% of them.
