MS Roald Amundsen
Journey Through Norway's Fjords and Coastlines with MS Roald Amundsen on a Hurtigruten Cruise
The luxurious Roald Amundsen expedition vessel is perfectly suited for Antarctica's rough seas. With a capacity of 530 passengers and 500 in Antarctica, its sleek design by Espen Øino and interiors by Tilburg in Sweden bring a sense of hygge - comfort and cosiness. The ship is also equipped with an infinity pool, wellness centre and fine dining restaurant. Its LED screen, the tallest at sea, shows dazzling, high definition images of nature. Additionally, there is an art collection hand-picked by the Queen Sonja Print Award. The efficient movement of passengers is ensured with carefully coordinated landings and meals divided into two sittings in the main and fine dining restaurants. Lifeboat drills and distribution of rubber boots are also done in shifts. Its environmental credentials are impressive, with power from two banks of batteries saving 20 percent on fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Plus, the dynamic positioning system ensures passengers and marine life are not disturbed. Not to mention, the use of upcycled hotel sheets and crew uniforms made from recycled plastic cleared from the sea.
