MS Fridtjof Nansen
Magnificent Arctic & North Atlantic Voyages on MS Fridtjof Nansen
MS Fridtjof Nansen is the second of Hurtigruten's environmentally-friendly expedition vessels, and a near-identical twin to MS Roald Amundsen. Built in Norway, the 20,889-tonne vessel can comfortably accommodate up to 530 passengers and is designed to sail primarily in Antarctica and Greenland. Green policies are in place onboard, including no single-use plastics, water stations to refill bottles, as well as recycling bins in every cabin. Passengers can also opt to hang a “we stay green” sign on their door to skip having their stateroom cleaned and towels washed. The cruise line has 265 outside cabins, including some family cabins with sofa beds, and the larger suites even have hot tubs. There are also accessible cabins available, but no single cabins. The main onboard experience is the Science Center, an educational venue where passengers and crew meet to learn more about the areas visited. They are also joined by up to 22 knowledgeable expedition staff, who mingle with passengers at mealtimes, host lectures and workshops, and accompany shore expeditions. MS Fridtjof Nansen also has three restaurants, a lecture theatre, library, sauna, gym, spa, outdoor pool and hot tubs, and free Wi-Fi.
