Avalon Illumination
Set Sail on the Shimmering Avalon Illumination Cruise
Avalon Waterways has recently launched the 164-passenger Avalon Illumination, the latest addition to the cruise line's suite ships. The vessels have been designed to provide passengers with balconies, despite the European river constraints such as varying water levels and low bridges. The Panorama suites onboard Illumination offer a wall of glass which opens up to reveal an open-air expanse. These 200-square-foot cabins are 15% larger than many river ship cabins and come equipped with a queen bed, a small couch, table and chair, as well as a larger-than-expected bathroom with marble floors. The 443-foot-long and 37.4-foot-wide ship also features an indoor and outdoor lounge, a sky deck and seating area in the front of the ship. The contemporary chic interior design showcases dark espresso woods, modern art and deep orange rugs and furniture. The staff onboard is mostly Eastern European, with knowledgeable, English-speaking local guides leading shore excursions. Avalon Illumination sails on a selection of itineraries on the Seine, Rhine, Main, Rhone, Saone and Dutch waterways, ranging from seven to 15 nights.
